Ikwuano LGA disinfects Army baracks, police station, local markets

Ikwuano LGA yesterday, disinfected the Nigeria Army barracks at Ikwuano/Akwa Ibom land borders against Covid-19, says TC Chairman, Stanley Ojigbo.

Barr Ojigbo disclosed this to Punch in an exclusive interview in Umuahia, highlighting that the Ikwuano Divisional Police Station, public institutions and others were in the picture.

Others, he further said include the four Ikwuano local markets in the four clans, namely Ndoro, Ariam, Amaoji and Ahiaorie markets.

According to the Ikwuano LGA boss, the people are happy over the fumigation exercise which he said. was instrumented by the Abia State Government, adding “we have to make other facilities available to enable all areas be fumigated”.

According to him, in addition, all relief materials received from the state government have reached those it was intended for and that all are happy in the LGA.

He noted that as a border community, his LGA is working assiduously to check infiltration from. its Akwa Ibom neighbors who are with reported cases of Covid–19, dismissing a rumour the act of compromise by security agencies at the border.

He pointed out that he has been working with all security agencies in the area, including the local vigilante and the LGA traditional rulers to check the border routes into the state through the LGA, even as tree logs have been used to block all entry routes into the LGA.


Already, an Akwa Ibom indigene who tried to dismantle one of the border route checks, a source said is now in police net.
