In recognition of the fact that Ozuitem people are passing through difficult times as a result of the deadly Covid-19 , a non-governmental organization, Ogwuanyim has provided palliative items for the community to cushion the effect of the resultant lockdown by Abia State Government.

In addition, the foundation has consulted with primary and secondary schools in the community on plans to roll out scholarship for students, as well as other assistance to the schools, even within Ozuitem environs.

The palliatives ranged from, cash, food items to Protective Personal Equipment, PPEs that include face masks and hand sanitizers.

According to the founder of the organization, Chijioke Chuku, “The decision to give the palliative to our people is borne out of our desire to support the Abia State Governor’s determination to ensure that Abians do not suffer unduly in these difficult times”.

Chuku, who is the Head of Legal Services at Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Abuja thanked Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu for all the measures he put in place to check the spread of Covid-19 in the state and prayed God to sustain zero-incident of the virus in the state.

He described Ogwuanyim Foundation as “a platform established to give back to the society that has been good to my siblings and I”, and was also founded to “support and project the importance of education which reflects the things that my father lived for and not limited to education alone”.

The foundation, he also said focuses on five major areas, including Education, Agriculture, Law, Medicine and Sports.

Already, in February this year, this foundation named after his father and Ogwuanyim I of Ozuitem, Chief (Dr.) Eleazar Chuku Onwugharaonye Chuku gave out grants to farmers across the three major villages of Ozuitem: Ishiegbu, Abua and Mbalaka to support agriculture this farming season.
