Abia Reporters

By Kingsley Maduforo

In addition to the commitment of the Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu in changing the long standing negative narratives of the state infrastructure by introducing the rigid pavement technology into the lexicon of road construction to tackle the dilapidated road network across the state, the governor, who brought peace, love and infrastructural development through his superlative road network across all nooks and crannies of the state has also raised the bar in diversifying the state economy through his economic policies.

For Gov. Ikpeazu, diversification of the state economy is paramount and the place of private sector is indispensable. It is the key to growth and development. Right now in Abia, diversification is no longer an option but has become the only hope. The government of Gov. Ikpeazu has played a huge role in creating a conducive climate for businesses to thrive in all sectors of the state’s economy.

The economic agenda of the present administration through diversification, is a welcomed development. The governor has created employment opportunities by boosting the economic sectors that create stable jobs, higher income and thus, improving livelihood of its citizens. It has encouraged and sustained our locally made goods.

Aba, the hub of SMEs in Nigeria today, is a major source of our strength and it behooves on us to leverage on this factor to promote made-in-Aba products as the country’s brand in terms of products and services, as it remain a means through which a sustainable development can be achieved.

Trade and Commerce strengthens ties between nations by bringing people together in a peaceful and mutually beneficial exchange thereby promoting peace, stability, quality and environmental standards. It also improves the exchange of best practices between trade partners and builds capacity in industry and products standards. For this, the need to encourage the present administration under Gov. Ikpeazu in his drive to create a varied and dependable economy in Abia State should take the center stage. There is, therefore, the need for total collaboration in achieving the Abia of our dream.

The gaint stride of Gov. Ikpeazu of Abia State in trade and commerce, which is one of the bedrock of his administration, is visible. With his right policies, the made-in-Aba products have accelerated to a global brand. It has helped to boost developnment and reduce poverty by generating growth through increased commercial opportunities and investment, as well as broadening the productive base of the state through private sector development programmes.

Gov. Ikpeazu’s great awareness of our local products has also increased business opportunities for local industries in the state by opening up new markets, removing unnecessary barriers and making it easier for local manufacturers to export their products. This has facilitated diversification and opened up new production possibilities by allowing investors to invest in our products and materials.

The governor, on different platforms, has expressed gratitude to the private sector for its contribution in partnering with the Abia State Government towards taking the state out of economic recession and encouraged it to harness the opportunities provided for them by his administration in moving the state forward.
