Abia Deputy Governor Surprised by Government House Media Team and Press Corps on His Birthday

Abia State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, PhD, barely managed to hold back tears as the Governor’s media team and the government house press corps led by the State Commissioner For Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, stormed his Government House, Umuahia, residence to deliver a surprise birthday party to him. The visibly surprised Sir Oko Chukwu who was joined by his wife, Lady Vivian Oko Chukwu, was alerted to the presence of the cake and wine bearing team by the melodious tunes from the renowned saxophonist, Chris Ndubuisi, expressed appreciation to God for adding another year to his age and thanked Governor Ikpeazu and the people of Abia State for giving him the opportunity to serve the people of the state.

He said, “I am totally surprised by this unexpected show of love by government house staff gathered here and wish to use this opportunity to thank God, my boss, Governor Ikpeazu, and the great people of the state who gave me the opportunity to serve my state. I woke up this morning to see hundreds of messages from all over the state and beyond wishing me a happy birthday, and my initial thoughts were to thank God, my boss and the people of the state for this effusive show of love, and then this. I want to assure you that I will always continue to improve on whatever it is about me that has attracted this show of love and thank all of you that are here and others that will join us later today to celebrate.”

Among those present during the event were the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mrs Loveth Ojo Adimoha, the immediate past Commissioners for Housing, Boundary and Conflict Resolution, Barr James Okpara and Chief Mascot Obike, Chief Obasi Onwuka and Mr Ugochukwu Emezue alongside other aides of the Governor, the Deputy Governor and members of the press corp of Government House, Umuahia.
